Sunday Mornings:
Sunday School: Classes for adults and children begin at 10:15 a.m. Our classes are discussion based and focus on how God is at work in our lives today.
Worship Service: Worship begins at 11:00. (Child care is provided.)
What to Wear: Wear what you are comfortable in! We have women who wear gorgeous African dresses, men in suits, and people of all ages in jeans. We focus on the worship of God and not what we wear.
History
John Wesley UMC was organized in July of 1966. Our location was selected by pastors of surrounding Methodist churches for its central location in a rapidly growing area. They were correct! Our first services were held in a carport and then moved to Rockbridge School. The North Georgia Conference purchased a mobile unit for our worship and our education wing was an old military barracks. From there, our church built the building we are in now and when you enter our Sanctuary, you get a sense of our tradition and rich history.
Over the years, the one constant at John Wesley UMC has been, change. From the building of I-85, to more recent changes on the “Boulevard”, we have seen the area and community around us be in a perpetual state of change. Through it all, John Wesley has stayed faithful to God’s calling. We feel that God has built our church to reach out to all of God’s people and we continue to build on the foundation of inclusiveness and love.
