ESL john wesley
In 2018, our Mark Karsner recognized a pressing need here in our community for immigrants to learn English.
He presented this need to our leadership team and pastor, and we started our very own ESL program.
The program built up to some 50 students and 15 tutors.
We found the students by word-of-mouth.

No Experience Necessary.
NORMALLY:
WHY:
- New volunteer tutors are paired up with experienced tutors.
- Tutors meet once a week with their students (usually 2-4 students per class with 2 tutors) in Falmouth.
- Classes can be in-person or via a zoom meeting.
- There is no religious affiliation with the tutoring classes. All volunteers are welcome.
- Students range from complete beginners to competent speakers who want to improve their English.
WHY:
- Meeting in an informal setting with a small group of appreciative students is fun! We learn along with our students and create friendships.
- Helping people learn/improve their English can make a huge difference in their lives. It can help them get a better job, make new friends, and do things that they could not do otherwise with limited use of the language.
